Just for those who, like me don’t read the instruction manuals in detail; sold my VW standard fit bike rack and bought a Thule VeloSpace XT2 which fits on the towbar and is superb. Removed it this morning, (but didn’t unlock the van..) and on disconnecting the electrics the alarm went off, email notification received and a message on the We Connect app; all of which I wasn’t aware of but is reassuring for both the bike rack and my Eriba (parked up at service stations etc.).

I like to shear the following
I have also bought me a Velospace XT2 (more space beteen the gutters =25cm) and I have a genuine Westfalia removable tow bar (carriers100kg) fitted under my T5.1 4-motion 174BHP.

Change the standard tow ball (hook) for a Nissan Juke (75kg) or a Opel Signum (80kg)

WIth a standard tow ball fitted you are not able to open the tail gate.

unless you remove the cables on both sides, which limits the angle tilt of the bike rack to a full 90 degree so your e-bikes will hit the road/ ground/ surface. It will also be hard the tilt the back in the normal position.

So now with the longer tow ball fitted ( I will only use for the bike rack) you are able to open the tail gate easily

The coupling is the same only the arm is a bit longer, but it will never go over his limit to break
if you have any remarks or question please let me know.

Greetings

Mark
