Not sure whether we've had this thread/topic so apologies if I am repeating anything posted before. However I've noticed some great names that people are calling their vans. I'll kick start this by saying that both of ours have been called Frank.

Ours is yet to be confirmed but I'm reliably informed by the boss that she's keen on Lloyd.

I assume it's derived from the reg number beginning LL.

I thought LuLu and I notice someone else thought the same ;)

As you can see from our signature, ours is named after a Pagan goddess - but we've just been told by Rose's son that Epona is also a character in a computer game. We can only hope that people don't think we spend all our leisure hours glued to a screen playing Grand Theft Auto or Soldier of Fortune!

She has her name and the White Horse of Uffington symbol on her rear side windows, courtesy of Hippy Motors, who do some really good stickers; see

http://www.hippymotors.co.uk/p/product/ ... Uffington/

Epona is also a brand name of a gear oil sold by the TOTAL oil company :thumb :D

Well........... not my choice by a country mile but ours is "Colin"!! FFS!

Shani's idea and she'd sent it around Facebook etc that it's stuck.

What did you do this weekend? Ohh, I spent it in Colin. Kills the conversation....dead!!

Noodle. After the Gorillaz's guitarist.

ours only has a name when im filling up at the petrol station watching the ££s and then its
oh! FFS :crazy
dave and lisa

Ours is Olive - partly a play on the reg and partly because she's Fresco green - and also because we liked the character in the Fringe TV show with that name!

Betty Custard - Betty for short.

It happened in the showroom - all my cars have had names - from my frist 'Heather' an automatic Escort so called because as an automatic it could be driven with one leg - hence, Heather as in Heather Mills

Betty Custard - she just is.

James

Betty Custard, I like that, it says what it is. Quite cute.

Well, our first van, a mid-1990's T4 Westfalia went by the name of Bjorn, probably because the girls were both into Mama Mia at the time (2 years ago). Now we have a new Cali Beach in our life, and I wanted to name it after my late mother, but I got vetoed by the trouble and strife... and the girls have called him (for it is a he) Max, nice short and rather teutonic. Both our vans have been a mid-grey colour, maybe that's why they are both boys. I think the more you invest in your vehicle (van or car or caravan even) the more you want to give it a name, but I definitely think a van is more personal than a car, after all you don't normally rely on your car to shelter you over night. When on holiday, your van really becomes your home from home, your companion in adventure.

'tis enough, I'm out to play with our little boy.

our first cali was called sandy because the colour was sandy beige our second van is called buttons because the colour is toffee brown we was going to call it rolo but some one on facebook beat us to it.

G & H and the gang.

Hello all from New Zealand....Thanks to all for posting sheads about heater problems, I have modified my shunt under fridge in our 2009 grey cali and the ploblem seems to be solved.

We have named our van "MORRISON"

Cheers

Cool name. Welcome along I am glad you have got the heater problem solved
With the earth shunt. We have several members from nz which is great :thumb

Rommel - as it's built like a tank!!

Fuel consumption is slightly better than one though.

My youngest calls it "Lazy bones" as it seems to spend it's life on the drive unless we are away in it.

I work from home, so that's why it doesnt move too much during the week.

Ours has his name on the registration plate MFV, pronounced Murphy. Besides with a wife, two daughters, two female cats and a female guinea pig, I needed another male in the family ;)

Ours was named by Harry our son

Our old 1964 splitscreen - Turkis and white in colour - was called Minty Bus. This was logical though the name was inherited from the previous owners.

Harry decided, almost instantaneously, that the California should be called Minty, despite the fact it is Silver.

Nothing would shake him from this decision. I regularly get chastised for calling the old splitscreen Minty or the new California Minty Bus. To Harry there is no confusion whatsoever!

To Harry, all splitscreens are Minty Buses, all Bays Dolly (the name of my wife's sister's Bay), and all T5 derived vehicles Minty.

So if you've met him at a meet and wondered what On earth he was going on about, now you know!

:thanks

Our is called Poppy because of the pop top. Nearly didnt get a name because our 3yo was having so much fun telling people it was not a van she is a California.

Some great names so far

My old bedford camper is called Royston, Rolls Royston to be correct.

As we pick our new Cali up next week we can't name her until weve met.

My better half suggested Dylon from the magic round about :headwall not sold on that !!!

There is nothing quite as absurd as naming a vehicle but, having said that, ours has been proudly christened 'Dobby' - a free elf :)
