We're off to the Edinburgh Fringe for 3 nights staying in Mortonhall site.
Then have 4 or 5 days free to meander back to the south coast (avoiding the heat).

Anyone have any recommendations for quieter parts of southern Scotland / northern England to visit ?

We've been recommended The Howgills area in the Yorkshire Dales as one stop over.

Cheers,
Nick

We were in Edinburgh on Mon and Tuesday last week.

Then on Wednesday went over bridges up to Forfar driving the coastal trail. Forfar is on the edge of Loch so nice walking and easy walk in to the town for food and drink. Check out Crail on the route. Also stopped at St. Andrews, but was heaving with traffic and people.

On Thursday we travelled via Grampions to Killin. Some very spectacular scenery and fantastic water falls at Killin. Travelled via A93, A924 and A827 Stopped at Pitlochry.

On Friday travelled home, stopping at Sterling for walk around and food and drink.

All sites were C&M.
