I thought I’d spotted a bargain Cali, but a cup of tea later I can spot why it’s cheap. Can you?

Is it missing a window in the front of the roof?

Something gives it away, but I can’t put my finger on it...the wierd blinds on the kitchen window, the wrong dash, wrong floor rails?

The advert says Conversion in both the title and the text, and has done 148 000 miles

Didn’t even spot that in the photo. Kinda challenging to slide in over the cooker when using that door....

The Edition model started from T6 my

Edit. See correction below

Fake news , a original Cali never came with and never will have a sliding door on the left side .

Special edition Caravelle with an aftermarket elevating Roof, kitchen & smaller sliding seat. Would have been cheaper for the original Owner to have purchased a Cali in the 1st place!

It’s an interesting game. I think we’ve spotted them all.
I run a standard search on vw California and hadn’t even read the title and was just going off the photos.
At first all I was questioning was “why hadn’t I seen any 25 Edition Cali’s before” and “would they have been 140s when the Berghaus’s were all 180”. I also thought the front window arrived in the canvas before 2013. I think that stereo is a 315 (? Name) which was never fitted in a Cali (but is a useful upgrade from the base one)......But I’m rather taken with these edition graphics and colour schemes / wheels, so was drawn in.
A cup of tea later I wondered “what’s going on with the black curtain over the cooker”, then the house of cards collapsed.....The first photo shows the 2nd sliding door, so the Cali blind can’t be fitted and the pillar at the fridge in a botch. The caravelle base vehicle will explain the high miles for the year. I still hadn’t noticed ‘conversion’ in the title until I linked it here.
I’ve looked and it’s been listed a few times.....perhaps because it’s too pricy for what it truly is,but more likely because trigger happy edition lovers hit the buy it now button before playing ‘spot the difference’.

I wonder if you can still open the door?

“Why it’s not a bargain”...I like this game, can we play it with a few other Cali’s I see listed on eBay and the for sale section on here haha:D

That’s true but we have a house rule not to comment (good or bad) on the adverts that fund our chat here. Not like the old days when ads were just like a normal thread.....it was like the Wild West!

Awww, not fair lol

Hmmm, Where do they get the interiors? ;)

The company/bloke selling, sells all the second hand interior parts as their main business, shipped in from Europe. I bought an ‘excellent condition’ roll out awning - had to take back and strip 5 others down before finding one that I could replace parts from others to make excellent!! Really nice guy though.

1 sec....two side doors

They could fill the gap in the market, as VW not selling new Beach anymore in the UK; Could convert nearly new Caravelles into Beaches with twin sliders, elevating roof, heater, leather seats, table in the door etc etc.
