Wireless apple car play and IOS 18.4 bug

Hope this may help others.
Since mid April I have had to revert to cable connection for car play, as the wireless connection of car play provided all the apps on screen but there was no mobile data connection and the usual 4g connection symbol had been replaced by the wifi connection symbol.
It also prevented what’s app messages being sent but occasionally they would get through and Siri would announce them but you couldn’t reply or send
Google maps worked fine and even had the live speed displayed when on a planned journey (an update that is being rolled out to google users as and when see image).

From the beginning of May and an over the air update, there was no ability to use the phones 4G for data for what’s app , Spotify or waze.
Car play was interpreting the MY VW connection as a valid data connection and prioritising this over the phones 4G data.

Bit of research showed that it was an IOS 18.4.0 and 18.4.1 bug.

Just updated to IOS 18.5 and all wireless car play functions back to normal and 4G data and symbol returned.

TBH I always found the wifi/bluetooth operation slow on my Cali with a delay between the phone and the app on screen so just disabled and always used the cable. This is vs my Land Rover where the wireless works perfectly.
