Hello,
Anybody have an idea on longevity of the aircon compressor?
Aircon not working VW charging 1250 for new one, addition to this the engine warning light came on and another fault with an engine air compressor for 260.
The van is 5 year old, 46,000 miles I don't live or use in desert climates, serviced regular.
Just me or is this extremely poor for a VW?
Anyone had the same issue?
Thanks

Who has confirmed that the AirCon compressor has failed? Not a commonly mentioned problem.

What is the " Engine Air Compressor "? Do they mean Turbo? and once again what is the problem as these are rarely mentioned as problematic at that milage?

The VW garage where i bought it from has said its the compresser.Ive not heard about it before van was bought from new, seems odd two compresser things going together..
Not sure the engine, some cooling pump, i had the glowing coil coming on in the van, again very strange,I'm waiting back form Vw to see what plan they have in mind.

We just picked our van up this afternoon been into to Breeze been in with air conditioning not working our air conditioning compressor has failed (although I think it has been working right since new) so they do fail. Part on back order.

But no idea what the other compressor you mention is.

With any out of warranty air con problem I would go to a specialist, not VW.
Many specialist can repair things at a fraction of the cost that VW will simply replace.
Most likely the clutch mechanism or seal through lack of use has conked out on the air con compressor.

Thanks for the replies,I will take to an Aircon Guru as it does seem to happen. Not great for a VW,however it is what it is..Happy traveling will post update once sorted.
