For the forummembers from Belgium, Holland or surroundings:

Where/who would you recommend for buying/installing a Solarpanels installation for California 6.1 Ocean in Belgium, Holland, west of Germany or north of France?
I'm an absolute beginner in this .. Is there somewhere a concise read about this subject ?

I've read quite some comments on this forum, but would prefer to buy more or less "local" in case there would be problems afterwards ..

Thanks,

Stefan.

Hi Stefan,

I know VW Camper Centrum in Amersfoort install solar. They are well known as a reliable dealer that specialises in VW Campers. Many of your countrymen take the trip over here to get their California serviced.

I myself had panels installed by Roger (of this forum) who has installed panels for many people on these forums. When we planned a holiday in the UK we contacted him and in 30 min he had everything installed. Worked great ever since. Advantage is that he is easily contacted and there's many people on here with his setup(s) so information and help is also found easily on the forums. Would mean a trip to England though. No problem if its in your plans for the near future. Otherwise might be a bit far.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks, also for the tip on Amersfoort !

I now was contemplating Roger anyway, and since I love the UK (my grandmother was English), I might make the trip. OTOH, Roger also ships to the continent; maybe it's not THAT difficult to install ...

If you can wire a plug you can fit one of Roger’s Solar Panel kits. :thumb

Easy DIY install following @Roger Donoghue detailed instuctions. Took me about 2 hours to fit.

I had them installed by MyCalifornia in Naarden. Was a bit cheaper than Campercentrum in Amersfoort. Got a Solbian 236 watt panel with a Victron controller.

We planned the trip to the UK first and then realised the route we planned basically took us through Roger's backyard, so we might as well stop and have them installed. If we hadn't already planned the trip I think I would have tried my hand at installing them myself. Knowing many here have managed themselves and that I would be able to ask questions here would give me the confidence to do it myself.

Then again,... seeing that your grandmother was English.. solar panels might be a really good excuse to treat your significant other to a nice trip to England. ;-)

I emailed Roger and he was so kind to sent me the installation manual. I've read it and it's so easy a DIY-job that I've never done, so I think I can do it :).

I'll very probably order a set tomorrow.

@thomas: that trip to England will certainly happen, if not this year, then the next !

Thanks for all help !

Stefan.
