We came back from Italy yesterday via Calais and the car in front of us that was towing a caravan had their side window shattered via stones being thrown at them. It was a very scary experience and I urge anyone coming back via Calais to think about changing their route as there was no police to be seen. I can see this situation just getting worse and worse :(

There's still a lot of trouble , migrants blocking the roads , attacking trucks ! Starting fires on the highway!

Be careful especially when it get's dark

We are off to Anguoleme a week on Wednesday via Caen so should be OK. Take care all who travel via Calais.:Nailbiting

Do you think it will be safer by Tunnel or Ferry?

I will be travelling by tunnel and do not feel nervous.

I've travelled before when there have been tensions and been unaffected. Eurotunnel have also published on their website alternative directions to the tunnel.

Yes it is mainly ferry passengers that are affected as there is no way of avoiding it, as Jen says if you go via the tunnel you should be OK. If we had know how bad it was going to be we would of changed our crossing.

I am not against controlled migration but if you had seen these people you would not have wanted them in our country I promise you.

Came back via Eurotunnel as usual last week at around 7pm - absolutely fine, no signs of trouble or threatening types anywhere.

Came back through the tunnel on Wednesday, apart from it being the busiest that I have seen, (school hols?) we had no issues.

I think the OP is referring to the ferry and not the tunnel.

Looking at the maps in the news it appears all the problems are in the road leading up to the ferry terminal rather than the channel tunnel, we came through in the early hours of sunday & saw no sign of trouble.

Circuit des Remparts...

Love it, my mate, who I used to mechanic for (until he emigrated) raced a 1938 Alvis Speed 25 there for a few years, fantastic weekend!

That's the one Loz.
Hopefully next year.
Been to the Pau Classic a couple of times now. Like a mini Monaco. Well worth a visit, about 35 euros for three days. I think Angouleme is a similar cost
Met an old boy at Pau with a 180 two wheel drive Cali. He'd got a 50s Cooper F1 car in a trailer and said it towed a treat. 80ish on the autoroutes with cruise on

Anyone heard of any problems at Dunkirk? We're going that route to Holland in a couple of weeks.

We decided on Hull Zeebrugge ferry for our current trip just to avoid the Dover Calais route, we had major delays last time we took that route.

We had a 2 hour delay on the eurotunnel from folkestone last night, first time we've had a delay in about the 6 trips we've made. Down to train faults on the single deckers rather than migrants etc.
Currently at Camping Adam site near baden baden and it was 30 degrees when we got here at 1730!

Did Calais-Dunkirk Wednesday lunchtime. Plain sailing all the way, no delays, signs of trouble or anything worrisome at all

Came back yesterday through the tunnel no trouble at all....

Went from Folkestone on 24 August. 90 minutes delay for no apparent reason.
Poor info and a bit of a shambles.

I bottled out of Calais for the return as we were due to travel on blockade Monday.
Travelled zeebrugge instead and I shall book that for next year.

I don't understand why the French government doesn't address the lawlessness around Calais.

Always wierd why some feel the need to " disagree" without any further comment , as one just did on a post above .
Even more in a post like this witch factors evolve each day and my comment was almost two weeks ago.
Guess it is the "facebookinstagramsyndrome" ....no cure for that:D

Can you be clear? Are you posting about me?
