"Bike Porn"-your rides and how/where you use them

Snap - mine's a Boardman, but a road oriented hybrid. Good bike, got 10% off by joining British Cycling (10% off all Halfrauds prices).

That looks like a lot of fun. What sort of distances were you doing?

City Bike and for general use is a Charge Mixer with 11 Speed Alfine Hub, which I highly recommend.

Trek took me from Calais to Cannes last year and a more leisurely ride of the Loire Valley. Next year hopefully a 3 week unsupported trip across Spain but not sure on the bike. Tourer a Claud Butler got stolen a couple of years back.

I posted something under 'Pedal Power' to see if anyone is interested in starting a Cali Strava 'club'....nothing competitive but a bit of fun to share rides, routes, epic (or short!) journeys.....if enough interest happy to set up etc...

Nice. For safety sake I decided to sell my DH bike a few years back. It takes longer to mend when you are the wrong side of 40.

Beskidy Trophy in Poland, quite a while ago … Guess 2009 I ended up 10 in my age group as i recall.

One of the toughest MTB races in Europe. 4 days stage race. Really a wonderful race if you are into technical and challenging Mountain Bike.

Re: Bike Porn " members rides "

The story behind the Inbred goes like this.

Birthday weekend. Lots of beer. Not much sleep.
Monday morning commute. Hungover and tired.
Jump.
Land in Watford General Hospital.
Forks knackered and being from that odd era around '96 maybe, had 1" steerer, so hard to replace.
Bought cheap frame and v-brake compatible forks.

RIP Orange P7. 1996-2010. Miss you!

still got my P7 , still going strong, yes brilliantly made bikes

I gave the frame away in the end, was cluttering up my man cave and I was clearly not going to get time to rebuild it.

Hopefully it's still out there on the trails, it was such a brilliant ride. I saw Orange had started producing them again and was tempted...but still more than happy with my Soul.

More location porn than bike porn. Day 5 of Coast to Coast ride across the Pyrenees. This was taken approaching the top of the Col de Pailhères.
If you look really carefully there is a Cali (GB registered pre facelift) parked in the background.

Got rather muddy on the South Downs Way this morning. Very slippery on the chalk. Descent down from Butser hill impossible to ride under control.
Was out supporting a friend running in the Meon Valley Plod. Most of the time he was quicker on foot.

I have about a million bikes (according to the OH anyway). But here are my two most used ...

Checkout my son on instgram for your fix of our travels.... @mtb.richie

Proper mad yesterday watching him around the north downs at peaslake.

What a great thread!

So..... I'm new the the camper/california scene, having just acquired a T6 Beach, in January 2017..... The purchase was also a bit spare of the moment, but one I don't regret, for sure.....

Firstly, I've been a keen motorcyclist, since I got my first motorcycle at 5-years old.... I've toured Europe, most Summers (about 12 in a row,) on various motorbikes and also completed a Coast-to-Coast Tour across North America, and 2x tours in Morocco. My wife Sarah, has owned motorbikes also, and enjoyed some of the above Tours with me, either riding pillion, or on her own bike.

However, we have, since 2014 very much caught the cycling bug..... And our more recent holidays/tours have generally orientated around cycling.... And it's into cycling, that most of my spare time and disposable income disappears these days..... Cycling is healthier than motorcycling, for sure.... And for us, offers all the same benefits, of adventure and exploration. The California, we hope, will help us maximise this in many ways.....

So...... What's in the fleet currently.....

We both own Specialized AWOL's, both were initially the same, 2014 AWOL Deluxes. However, Sarah's was stolen, and was replaced before it was recovered. So, her's is now a 2015 AWOL Elite.

The AWOL is my "go-to" bike, its a commuter, winter-hack, touring-vessel and Sunday/Cafe cruiser all-in-one.... My favourite bike for sure. I just love it. The highlight of it's career thus far, is a Tour from Trondheim, to Bergen in Norway. We cycled along the Atlantic Road, over the Trollstigen, Rallarvegen, and through the many Fjords, like Geiranger - Was an Epic. Some photos below:

I also own a 2015 Specialized Camber Comp Carbon, this is my full-sus 29er, for when I choose to have a shred around some of the fantastic MTB resorts, here in Northern Ireland. Rostrevor's Red Run, is my go-to, but I like Davagh Forest also.

Camber.jpg

Finally..... A Specialized Diverge, and a Genesis Equilibrium 10.... These are for when I cycle with a group, do sportive rides, like the Gran Fondo etc... I'm in the process of selling the Diverge and replacing it with the new Specialized Roubaix FutureShock. I might, just keep the Genesis, as it looks good..... But TBH, haven't got much use from it, and probably should sell it.

Anyway..... Hope you enjoyed this post (I enjoyed showing off my fleet) and it brings a cycling-inspired smile to your face! Maybe see some of you on the roads someday, either in the Cali with bikes loaded on the back, or on the bikes themselves.
