I'm now investing in some big pads and also some really good night lights as it starts getting darker earlier. Any light suggestions greatly welcome. (Helmet and Handle bar mounted).

Been pleased with a C&B Seen 1200 lumen on the bars (http://www.candb-seen.co.uk/bikehead-li ... e-xml.html). A little more pricey than many of the Chinese SS type lights, but at least you know you're getting decent protected batteries.

Just bought a cheapy Ultrafire E17 for a helmet light, as we all know you go where you are looking, so I thought it was time to add something to my hat Haven't tried it on the bike but worked well enough on a night hike recently.

Night rides are great. The Mrs got into a screaming match with an owl the other night :crazy Desperate to get our van back on the road so I can have a post ride cuppa while packing up.

I used to night ride every week in Cornwall.
1700 lumen Luminous 601 Pro bar light and a 500 lumen Moon (a Raleigh brand) helmet light. Works well.

It's a lot of fun!

Well I race MTB mainly now and used to race Duathlon in the past my finest hour was in my GB strip In Holland for the Age Group championships. My wife races triathlon so between us have few bikes!!

So on a trip south I will be making time to visit a Welsh trail centre, not being a huge fan of TC's (I live in northern Scotland so spoilt for choice) but having been to Inners, GT, Ae and various others which one should I visit? Will have "hardcore hardtail" and 180mm full bouncer with me so plenty of options, not bothered about uplift but if available may use it, my uneducated choice is BPW?

I think you may be dissappointed!

The new trail at Cwmcarn is on the mark and probably more of a "Scottish flavour" (big climb / big descent). I have a soft spot for CYB. Afan is a little CT like. Brecha is okay but I've only ridden it one.

Brechfa is my favorite...i ride it regularly....much quieter than the others ....the black and red together makes a nice 3-4 hours ride (depending on your fitness).

I confess to doing Brechfa only once but after crashing 3 times on one lap due to wet leaves it's sort of blurred from my memory. Campsite at Cwmcarn. Take good locks. The visiting Warden spreads fear! Bike cover as well

Fitness bad at the moment. Have no idea how I managed the Ten Under Ben event in June!

Hi... Does anyone know if you can remove the front stops from the bench seat rails so I can slide it further forward. This would allow me to transport my bikes inside the Cali when not carrying passengers. Thanks Paul

Yes stops can be removed from front and back. From what I remember you just need a flat headed screw driver, loosen the screws in the blockers that sit inside the rails and slide the blocks forward and out through the rail holes, the ones with the clip in covers, hope you know what I mean?

I have no idea why they fit them, the space is so much more versatile without them.

Just about to pull the trigger on a new road bike. Felt Z4 disc is in my radar. Will have to move on the current ride though. Is anyone here interested in a Specialized Crux CX bike 2013 with Shimano 105 groupset? This bike was built by the owner of my LBS for himself. The frame alone was rrp £600 new. I have had it for just over a year.
Will be going for a bargain price £500 collected from Weymouth, Dorset. Photo's on request.

Paul, I think this is probably the best upgrade/modification I have made to the van! Particularly helpful on the one time the French lady insisted on seeing my gas tank tap at a French port when I had 4 bikes mounted on the back and was fully loaded with holiday stuff. I just slid the seat forward removed a few bags, opened the cupboards and sent her in! I think she was a little surprised at where the tank was! I think I would have missed the sailing if I had had to remove the bikes to get in!

Whilst I am on a roll... My latest bike build was completed last spring, well I say completed, no bike is ever really completed, it's now in that 'upgrade' phase where you are tempted into buying whatever the biking press convince you need next!

I used the Nukeproof Mega TR275 frame, with Pike dual position forks (160mm), got Chain Reaction to build me some light weight Enduro rims, transferred my 2x10 XT brakes, changers and chain set over from the last bike, Rockshox dropper post, handlebar, stems and grips came across too, new Nukeproof seat and a new set of DMR V12 pedals.

It is always a gamble building your own bike as you can't ride it until you've built it! But it is so rewarding and makes maintenance easier!

Fortunately the bike is great, it is probably far more advanced than my skill level, but that keeps me safer and gives me room to improve.

Currently planning my next upgrade...
1x10 with a 42 tooth added to the rear cassette
Rear derailleur upgrade to shadow plus the reduce chain clatter and chain jumping.

Treated myself to this yesterday as I'm thinking of doing an Adventurecross ride later in the year, it'll have to do commuting duties too.
Just had a quick ride round the local park, a little tweek to the fork and tyre pressures and a dropper post I'll be sorted.
