We don’t always have a selection of preprepared meals to stock up the Cali for a quick getaway.
However, we have found ‘Cook’ food to be very good indeed for this. It is a brand of frozen meals and they do taste homemade (or even better!). They are designed to be warmed in the oven but if you defrost them beforehand they can be reheated in a pan on the stovetop. The lamb tagine, for example,is excellent, the coq au vin also....
Another cooking in the Cali cheat we use is a brand of instant mash called ‘Idaho’. Like Smash, you just add boiling water but it is much much better.

Takeaway, it doesnt get any more cheating than that! :thumb

That must be some emergency if your stuck out somewhere and need food stored for 2 years ;-)

Looking at the shop finder for COOK (https://www.cookfood.net/shops/) they seem to exist mainly south of Birmingham. I know they deliver also. We enjoy eating in our van, opening a bottle of wine and just relaxing. So something delicious and easy to cook is a bonus. And, slightly off topic, COOK do a really good Christmas Dinner. My husband is a vicar and by the time we get to Christmas Day we are all rather tired and grumpy so an easy version of Christmas Dinner is much appreciated.

A lot of hikers swears by Idahoan Mash. I haven't had any myself but keen to try.

Omelette in a bag of crisps. Get ur fav flavour of crisps, crush em up add 2 beaten eggs, grated cheese and some peppers, chorizo and mix it all up in thebag of crisps. Simply place the bag of crisps in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes, no mess omelette

Quick snack, Large flask, put hot dogs in the flask, add boiling water, ready to eat anytime no cooking. Ideal quick fix for kids who can’t wait.

Quick meal: Cube chicken and onion place in a plastic bag, add authentic tikka spice, refrigerate (or freeze) ready to cook straight from the bag, (defrost first) when cooked place onto flour tortillas, add yogurt, salad etc. scrumdidilyumptious

Egg noodles, place one sheet per person in a bowl / pan, pour boiling water over, cover and stand for 5mins.
While the noodles are steeping,: Put a good quantity of crunchy Peanut butter in a bowl, add sweet chilli sauce to taste, pour a little boiling water into the peanut butter, stir to loosen the mixture (loosen to a thick paste)
Pour off the water from the noodles, mix in the peanut butter/ chilli mix. Enjoy

This can’t just be left here! We need more details and reviews. This could revolutionise my world after B-r-e-x-i-t.

It sounds utterly disgusting.
What an animal...!!!

I have a book from Ferran Adrià, the world star chef, with some quick recipes. One of them is tortilla made from crisps. So you see, not that crazy! :thumb

Maybe I will try it for campervan cookout :D ;) certainly very different!
It would make a fun video. You don't need to 'own' the idea....you could say it came up on the forum, which might draw more folk here. If the recipe works, you could become PM!

Haha I'm more than happy to try these things and credit the clever folks behind them if they are happy for me to try it. You are right would be a fun episode! THe Denmark episode 2 is almost ready, and then I have a few recipes lined up but some short quick fun ones is a must.
