Second car advice

Get yourself a BMW i3, you are worth it. First month, june cost us 34€ in electricity. If it was a diesel maybe about 20 times as much. It will be worth it in the long run.

And the cost compared to the fossil fuelled equivalent?

@nd hand prices probably less as well because you have to factor in the cost of a replacement battery pack, which is a given depending on the milage and charging sessions used.
With the fossil fuelled equivalent the chances that a new engine might be required in the lifetime of the vehicle are minuscule, not so a new battery pack.

Well, if you factor in no oil service or oilfilter etc during it's life I guess it might be less that fossil fuel.
I bet the battery will last at least 200.000km, where lot's of fossil fuel cars already required new clutch, gearbox or even engine.

Come up to Yorkshire ; plenty of Eh-Ups here. In bordering Counties you’ll also find plenty Ey-Ups and Ay-Ups.
Don't you locals called them T'- Ups? or is that a sheepy term?:thumb

Think about the environment!

x4. Have to come back for the dogs at lunchtime!

Eventually given the equivalent of 17% (£2000) off a new Skoda SE, including deposit contribution.
Deposit of £1777
17 payments of £232
Final cash payment of £4496

Interest + 4.9% comes to £436

I'd prefer to pay cash but I'd lose the deposit contribution if I did.

Are you sure you would lose the deposit contribution? I bought a Tiguan on pcp and paid it in full 10 days later and kept the contribution and free services. VW asked for a penalty for paying off in full but that was only £30. The sales person gave me the advice and was spot on.

We did exactly that with our Polo. Got the finance then paid it off in “cooling off” period.

Buy an eup!. Than you don't have to worry about the environment when you drive the diesel powered California.

An Up?
Daddy pig, can we go and jump into some muddy puddles.

You must have either forgotten to include the discount in those figures or gone to town on the extras.
Paying £9,781.00 + interest for a car with a list price starting at £10,165 for an SE I make that about £400 discount.

+£350 extra two doors
+£540 for metallic paint
+£160 for DAB
+£460 cruise & rear sensors
+£100 spare wheel

We could have lived without the metallic paint and DAB, but as they are no longer building them we had to choose from stock.

Delivery on Monday!

The VW Up has got some.amazing reviews and 5 star safety rating. I would defo choose the up
Review;
"The Up is Volkswagen's smallest car, but it offers the same premium feel that you get in other VWs" and of course you get another vw on your drive ;-) ooh la la

Sounds like you got a great deal. Did you manage to do a deal locally, or did you have to travel for it?

Abarth 595 convertible. Perfect complement to a California, not totally impractical - can get three people in it and a months shop in the boot....

My wife runs a 5 door Citigo, great little car and the biggest reason for buying over an Up is the service at Skoda garages compared to VW.

Local.

I did try some online sites but the price difference was negligible.

The dealer was hopelessly inept. He didn’t really understand our needs or the vehicle’s purpose as a second car shared equally between two people. But the trips (4) to the dealer were worthwhile. We went in for a Fabia and came away with a Citigo, absolutely perfect for the supermarket, dog walking or adult plus 1 child swimming. Amarillo will remain the car of choice for family trips.

In 28 months Amarillo has covered 48,000 miles. At this rate the 5 year / 80,000 mile warranty will expire before 4 years are up. The Skoda should extend Amarillo's extended warranty to much closer to the optimum 80,000 miles at exactly 5 years’ ownership.

The dealer didn’t have a Citigo for us to test drive during our first two visits, so we booked a test drive for Monday afternoon. We turned up soon after 1pm only to discover their most junior member of staff had been sent off on an errand in the Citigo. Hopeless!

We then went off to look at the Up! which they had ready for us to drive as we arrived. The VW salesman understood us from the start, but we really could not justify the extra cost for what is essentially the same vehicle only more stylish.

That’s very comforting to hear.

First two services are £99 (for both not each). The same for the Up! is £199.

Both my kids run citigo,s a sport for the lad and a colour edition for the daughter. I drive them regularly and quite fun in a way and dont use fuel so forget an e something. Daughter originally had a Panda but it isnt as good a vehicle.
I would save the cash and buy the Citigo as its the same thing anyway and to the youth, well just more youthful. The Seat isnt so numerous and more difficult future sell. I will reinforce your first impression of Skoda dealers they are poor. Out of 4 I have dealt with only one was Ok so a 25% pass rate is pretty bad.
