Vango Airbeam problem

We bought the Vango Airbeam Kela awning for our Beach some years ago. We used it a few times for week long holidays but as we hadn’t used it for a while, probably about 5 years in fact, we decided we should test it out. We went to a campsite a couple of weeks ago near Bourton on the Water for 3 days and at first it was great! we used it for storing our stuff and in fact used the ‘bedroom’ as a changing room. However on the 3rd day that we were there it collapsed as one of the main air tubes had leaked and also the short bracer air tube had leaked. We tried pumping them up again a few times but each time they leaked so we packed it away. Since being home we have tried looking for replacement tubes but we are struggling to find them as the newer models have different fittings. I am going to try phoning Vango spares department as I can’t see anything on their website but wondered if anyone else had found problems with their Airbeam tubes and whether a solution had been found. Thanks

I think you can order them from here.

I am surprised they have failed after that period of time though. I think mine comes with a repair kit so it might just be a small leak you could repair.

My parents have an 'Igloo' inflatable tent that is about 50 years old and the tubes are still fine. so much for progress!

Thanks for the link. This is the one we found but the measurements didn’t match for any of them.
I must admit we were surprised that they went too.

We had a problem and vango sent us a spare. It wasn’t the right spare because it was too long but you just roll up the extra and it doesn’t cause a problem. I am sure Vango will be able to help.

Thanks! Good tip!

If you put a fair bit of pressure in on a hot day they will expand and damage! Not sure if it was either on your trip?

It was mixed weather , not hot just warmish and some rain . Hadn’t realised that the hot weather could make that happen. Thanks for the tip when we get the replacements.

Just returned from a week with a semi-collapsed vango kela. One of the main airbeams failed at junction of tube with valve so wasn’t repairable. Used an inflatable SUP board to prop up the tent for the week. Not ideal. Need to order a replacement tube now but have been wondering whether I’m best to look at pole alternatives to avoid similar issues in future

We finally got round to sorting our airbeam problem! We left it for a couple of years as we didn’t do one of our camping trips where we needed the bigger awning but this year decided that we really must get round to it. We sent away for the two main airbeam tubes : AIRSPEED TUBE PRE-2015 600 X 10CM - AT031 and the AIRSPEED TUBE 148 X 8CM - AT025 from Vango. It was quite fiddly at first but we got there in the end! We‘re amazed at how good the awning looks for a 10 year old! Can’t wait to use it now!
