I would not want to be in a position of testing the legal niceties of using equipment that is deemed unsuitable for road usage. Then again I am most used to the USA where suing people is 2nd nature and this sort of thing is manna from heaven for lawyers.

Website states the LED bulbs are for ‘Off-Road Use Only’. Probably worth checking if they will invalidate the insurance in the event of an accident.

You can also fit standard bulbs to the unit. You just select the option when you purchase:

Sounds like they are designed for Halogen but just use the LED replacement bulbs that are illegal & should fail an MOT.

Just for some balance here, the company selling them have clearly researched and been involved in a coming up with a design that they can be sure will sell.Investment upfront would not have been cheap.
To me that means, unlikely to dazzle anybody legal, illegal or whatever.
Where as I often get dazzled by
- poorly aligned halogen lights,
- boy racer (ok to call them that these days?) home jobs,
- factory LED's depending on distance and gradients
- people who don't turn off main beam.

I've never come to hear of anybody prosecuted for any of those instances.
For the record I'm running factory fitted H7 units but can get grumpy when something of this nature is deemed so out of line.
Perhaps the next time someone with such lights illuminates the road for 2 youths on an electric scooter in busy traffic helping them avoid a pot hole that would have sent them both hitting the ground and what ever consequences follow we should perhaps lock up the driver of the vehicle and throw away the key.

What research do you think they have done apart from working out if some cheap LEDs fit into their halogen headlights instead of halogen bulbs?

They are illegal for use on the road - the suppliers acknowledge that by stating the LEDs are for off road use only.

They sell the headlamps as Halogen not as LED, you get a choice of Halogen bulbs that come with them, the fact you can buy from elswhere on their website LED bulbs for off-road use only doesn't make the headlamps LED legal.

What do you think the boy racer ( or person racer to be politically correct) home job is other than buying some cheap LED bulbs to fit in their halogen headlights?

I remember when these headlamps were brought out, the big selling point was the LED day lamp running lights, thats where the investment was made and the research was done.

How do you know that it's factory LEDs that dazzle you? do you stop each car & ask them what headlamps are fitted? I suspect its a vehicle either with LED bulbs inserted into halogen lights or factory LEDs fitted to a vehicle without the dynamic headlamp levelling.

Not certain if their lights but there was an issue with brightness of diffused DRL/Indicator brightness. Ok with ones that look more like individual bulbs in a row.
No doubt that they will clarify.

Well I'm bored with the moaning and wouldn't typically have bothered answering Andy
But typically I've always found you helpful and you don't fall into that category in the posts I see in this thread incase you are wondering.
So I'll do my best to answer you on this topic I'm not overly bothered about. I just believe some make a case for being whiter than white without the necessity and I doubt they are squeaky clean ether.

They are after market and they have to fit, the bulbs choices they sell to fit, the way the bulb pattern can be adjusted, the lack of can bus errors is not just luck right? I never said (or mean't) T6HQ did this all on their own either.

Well I usually recognise the car make and model (even in the dark) when it passes me in the other direction and sometimes happen to know whats standard for its age. Not fool proof so I concede I might not always get this right. But I'm damn sure that they don't take off factory fitted LED's for something substandard.

Yes, we had similar (think they are exactly the same) fitted by Bognor Motors.

THQ headlights fitted with gloss black grill/inserts and VeeDub Transporters front spoiler and splitter. Very pleased with them, however have not used in anger at night yet...
