How mad is this. I have noticed when I start my beloved Cali, the mfd tells me that the front assist is not available. This then means that the cruise control is also unavailable.
I have also noticed a bit of play in the steering, and when driving I am having to hold the wheel slightly off centre to go straight (it veers left if not). I have had 4 new tyres and all wheels balanced and it remains the same.

Today I rang the local VW dealer (Johnsons in Stoke in Trent, our local VW supposed specialist) - wanting to book in for diagnosis for both. Their reply… we don’t deal with California’s we are not sure with them.

How mad is that? Left scratching my head on how to get someone trusted rather than a franchise jack of all master of none, to assist. Have emailed VW to express surprise and ask for a steer (pardon the pun) - fingers crossed eh! View attachment IMG_0082.jpeg

Johnsons, at least the Tamworth outlet only does regular VWs not commercial vehicles such as the California VAN.

You'll need to seek out a VW commercial van outlet.

try this

The front sensor and camera may need cleaning for the front assist to work. Ref the pull to the left, have you had the wheel alignment checked ? The Cali is very road camber sensitive.

It can - hopefully - be something as simple as wiping the front sensor so that it is clean.

Thanks - have had all 4 wheels aligned but may just be sensitivity - will find a true flat road. Will go again ref cleaning sensor, thanks.
