Mattress solution required for our Ocean

After several years of coachbuilds then panel vans I finally convinced my wife that a California is the perfect option. First night away in our 2024 California Ocean and not so sure about the ‘comfort’ mattress - read lots of threads but even more confused ‍ Need to get resolved ASAP or I’ll be traveling on my own. We intend sleeping downstairs and want to avoid buying something that’s expensive but doesn’t deliver a comfortable good night sleep.

We use an IKEA mattress topper called Talgje, it's a double which we cut down to fit, with a duvet cover on it. We find it comfortable, we don't have the 'comfort' mattress or anything else underneath. In the morning we just roll all the bedding back onto the shelf and put the bench seat up - and unroll it again at night, so it's all very simple.

The best we found was the Sea to Summit mattress. With being inflatable it means you have some adjustment in how soft/firm it is.

Brandrup folding mattress or the Calibed Prestige III. Expensive yes, but a great nights sleep is guaranteed. As a side sleeper I couldn't cope with the VW Uncomfort mattress. Don't skimp, your back and shoulders will thank you. Afterall travel in a Cali is supposed to be pleasurable.
