Following my post yesterday about the spare wheel situation. I have conflicting info on the Night Heater situation.
So when you add the £3120 option 7VH Programmable air parking heater and water auxiliary heater with radio remote control you cannot have the spare wheel probably because this 'unit' will occupy the space underneath.
I spoke to a Group 1 California Salesman yesterday told me that ALL T7 California come with a parking heater so I CAN have a spare wheel and parking heater.
This is backed up by the official brochure which I have highlighted below.
If they all come with the parking heater what is the £3120 7VH option for? and in addition to this there is also the £1602 7VL option Auxiliary heater. Auxiliary heater for windscreen de-icing and heating/ventilation of the cab with radio remote control.
Is this a typo/mistake or is the stock 'fuel fired' parking heater a bare bones unit with a manual switch with no integration to the camper unit/app/remote. Also must be a smaller unit which doesn't take up the spare the spare wheel would occupy.

I may be pedantic but I don't want to make a mistake, I have little to zero faith in any VW California Sales rep I've ever met having bought four California's before. Generally I rely on this info on this forum. Can anyone enlighten me.. thank you in advance!

In price list in Slovakia, there is 7VC as a standard in Ocean, and 7VH as option with price 1189€ w/o VAT. I also need to decide if i should pay for 7VH. I dont know the difference yet, but from price list it seems that 7VH has radio remote control and 7VC does not have it. But if it can be controlled remotely using mobile phone app (using mobile data, not bluetooth) i really dont need radio remote control.

Ok i have the info. 7VC cannot be operated using vw mobile application. So if i want to control it remotely i need to pay for 7VH version.

Is this full document available anywhere?

If you are expecting a true remote control of the auxiliary heater I don’t think the current VW set up as you might hope.
I have an Ocean and I got one small radio remote. Press the button and wait for the green light to flash and the parking heater will come on at the last temperature set.
I haven’t yet tested the range but expect it to be similar to remote locking.
If you want to use the California app this is limited to WiFi / Bluetooth range.
I park my T7 50 metres from the house and cannot get either the remote or app to connect.

So I have the full system with remote options it can be controlled and programmed via the California app (Bluetooth so close range only but full control)via the control panel in the rear of the van ( for night use full control)as the main screen has shut down. Or via the key fob much longer range like in the old 6.1 vans so you can turn it on when you are walking across a field as long as you can see the van. The alternate system when you have the spare wheel is more challenging as controlling from the main infotainment screen is not so practical when you are in bed.

Try holding the remote to your forehead while pressing the button.
Don’t laugh, it can extend the range significantly for both the Heater Remote and Vehicle Remote.
Try it.

And what about volkswagen app that is connected using mobile data?
I haven’t been able to make the California app, which has the parking heater controls, work remotely, WiFi on mobile data or Bluetooth you seem to need to be very near the van.

The California app connects to the vehicle using Bluetooth hence the need to be reasonably close to the vehicle. I think it was primarily designed to be used when you are just sitting outside the van.

Volkswagen app works fully remotely but doesn’t control heating only ventilation.
I am not sure for other motorizations, but for phev you can set temperature and it will heat or cool to specified temperature using AC (not independent heater)

Agree, because the AirCon is powered by the EV battery.

For mine TSI you only have ventilation on or off. Makes sense that the PHEV has full control assume it has a time limit on it.

And which heater do you have? I know that for 7VC without remote control there is no way to operate it using vw app, so there is only ventilation, but i think that it should be there for 7VH.

Took me a couple of attempts - but got it working fine. Had to turn bluetooth off and on on the Iphone - but got there in the end

I am also waiting for Beach T7 now. Had the same problem understanding this heating options. I have confirmation from 3 California salesmen’s and German video about California Beach Camper T7, all californias have fuel parking heater which you can control on the camping panel in the cabin. The extras though were still not explained, and I tried . We will get ours and will know. We don’t have a build date yet :-(

In which case I suspect the California app will give you remote control of the auxiliary heater.

I used to do this to unlock my xr3i convertible in the pub carpark.
Was my party piece to see how far it could unlock.
I used to hold it under my chin with my mouth open.
Worked up to 300m away !
