Hi all, I have a 2011 California and was thinking of changing the leisure batteries to Lithium. My question is do I need to change anything else or is it a plug and play? And can Nyone recommend some alternatives?
I'm looking to install Rogers solar panels next year and a 240v inverter as I only have the single socket that works when plug into the mains

Thank you

I’m having this 210Ah lithium battery installed under the left front seat today in place of the original 80Ah AGM, which will give me a little over 4 times the charge of the original AGM battery which could only be discharged to 50% without damage. My power needs off grid are the stationary heater and my 35 liter fridge. My hypothesis is that I won’t need solar panels, and in an emergency I could drive a short distance since lithium charges up very fast. I also hope to avoid the issue of lithium not being able to be charged below zero by solar panels, since I use the van for ski trips. I’ll report back.

I did get a good price for this brand new compact and powerful battery by buying the package at the annual Barcelona Campervan exhibition.

I’m sure you will be fine without solar, I’ve got 260 in my van never switch fridge off (over a year now), and have a diesel heater too (don’t leave it running whilst asleep), and have only ever had my battery down to 70%.
Van is driven a fair bit 17k miles in 19mths

I have a 230ah Fogstar under the drivers seat. It is only charged via a mains 15A charger connected to my Delta 2. The Delta 2 charges from the alternator charger. I left the original battery for the heater and lights only. I did buy solar but have not installed it as I haven’t needed it yet.

Without charging the Fogstar, it will run my 18L fridge for about 6 weeks constantly. I would expect your 210ah to power your fridge for at least 2 weeks even in mid summer without any charging at all. For winter ski trips the fridge will use minimal power. You will not need solar in my opinion.

I see it has automatic integrated heating for below zero charging! I couldn't find anyone to supply that here.

For a similar price to solar, I'd look at the 500w - 800w alternator chargers and a power bank as others have mentioned above. We wouldn't be without our Bluetti AC200 Max.
