We’ve seen this in use, and it is effective. Something else to pack though. You can get an inflatable thing which goes under the van to block wind coming into the awning. It would also stop the fumes I guess. I have no firsthand knowledge of these, just seen them mentioned a few times.
That's the rub: 'something else to pack' I seem to spend half my life trying to remove stuff, rather than add stuff. We’ve seen this in use, and it is effective. Something else to pack though.
The amount of Carbon Monoxide produced by the Parking Heater is so low it requires sophisticated equipment to measure as the diesel is burnt rather than combusted as in a diesel engine. Any smell produced is normally on startup and is unburnt diesel which rapidly disappears as the heater gets upto temperature.Thank you for your replies, did not fancy killing anybody sleeping in the room of the awning
Thank you. I’ve never noticed smoke before but nothing to worry about?Smoke is normal. Photo looks like exhaust which is double skinned to allow for corrosion.

That’s the Engine exhaust silencer which is double skinned. Absolutely NOTHING to do with the Parking Heater, which does not have an exhaust silencer, just a short exhaust pipe.I’m camping this weekend and just put my heater on and noticed ‘smoke’ coming out from under my van. Looking underneath my van this part looks damaged. Any advice/suggestions please?

That's all? Mine (middle and rear damper) are almost completely rusted. The outer skin at the back is completely gone and almost halfway gone on the middle one.I’m camping this weekend and just put my heater on and noticed ‘smoke’ coming out from under my van. Thank you. It’s normal, same as when your boiler fires up at home, you will see ‘smoke’ coming from the flue.
