Four weeks or so left so what do you think I need to double check so the boys at VW can pay for it?

There's a service due in two weeks so will get the the garage to tug and pull at things...

Seb

I have a couple of days warranty left and I'm having the rear window and o/s rear side window replaced due to the fact that there is condensation marks in between the double glazing panes. Really hard to spot, best viewed from inside the van I think. Very worth checking.

You must be coming up to mot time like me then. Alex at smg is going to give it the once over before the mot. I do have an issue with the oil light that vw know about and are awaiting the loom to fix it. Don't think there is anything obvious mine needs. Will have to start putting some money away for when bits do start falling off :laugh2 :laugh2 It's had one egr valve if it goes again I might go for the blanking plate :thumb I will be joining vw assistance when the warranty runs out :thumb

VW and third party warranty seems very expensive! I'm going to stick a grand in account each year for repairs I think. Especially seeing they don't cover the bits that are scary anyway - eg the roof mech as far as I could work out.

Worth getting garage to check steering and drive shafts as these seem common T5 issues.

Wondering also, not related to warranty, but to servicing how long brakes should last and whether I need to budget for these next week (30K miles).

Might think about VW assist though, but seems excessive when I have cover on the rest of the "fleet" via the AA with homestart and recovery. Depends I guess on how much continental travel we'll do.

Mine has just hit 20k so will be interested to see how the brakes are doing :thumb I am not a member of any other assistance so should be worth it :thumb

Is it possible to get the MOT done up to 4 weeks earlier than the due date and get 13 months on the certificate (as you do with vehicles that already have an MOT)?

You can get an almost 13 month MOT. You can do this by doing it one month less a day before the MOT expires or before the vehicle is 3 years old and it will automatically post date it for the certificate.

VW Assist is worth it if you don;t have any other form of cover.

cheers

As of a week ago, I've quietly splashed (all my) cash and joined team silver :cool

Well after months (years) of procrastinating, buying a Kombi then a Caravelle, I jumped on this the day after the advert went up.

(pretty sure its not bluemotion though!)
I kicked the tyres for 5 mins, broke down in it when I was taken for a test drive (flat battery from playing with the roof) but seems spot on. Just need to add some toys, tow bar and kari-tech and will be sorted for summer :cool

Looks a tidy motor, not bad on the price either by the looks of it. :thumb

Your right no bluemotion on full fat cali's in the UK ,but there will be soon ..

Cheers, not sure the girlfriend is very impressed with me, her priority spending list is:

1 - Diamond Ring
2 - Wedding
3 - Buy a House
4 - Have Children
5 - Maybe buy a camper van after kids have been through uni.

I got her a dog and me a camper van instead :thumb
