50m hook up

Do any members know where I can buy a 50m hook up? I'd prefer a single length on a reel rather than joining 2 x 25m and probably needs to be 1.5mm so its flexible.

I think you will struggle to buy an off the shelf 50m cable, pure weight of a single length of cable would be prohibitive let alone the size of the rolled up cable.

at a single length of 50m I think the cable would be nearer 2.5 - 4mm !

there are some on Amazon and ebay which are out of stock (so they must be available

are you camping in the next village to the EHU ?

you can get joint covers (many are not fully waterproof )

you could purchase the parts separately and make it up yourself or have a sparky do it for you ?

There would be far too much volt drop on a 50m length of 1.5mm, you would need to up it to 2.5mm.

Do you realise that the plugs & sockets whilst looking similar are not the same as the blue 240v ones & won't fit.

Just remember that if you are drawing a significant amount of power through an extension cable, you should always unroll it completely. If you don't, magnetic fields generated by the 50Hz alternating current can cause the cable reel to heat up.
We have an electric car, and have seen other owners make this mistake. Charging is high current. Result - melted cables and reels, with the associated fire and shock risks.

That is a 110v cable I would not use that just because it’s only rated for 110v as opposed to 230v.
it may work fine, but not worth the risk

Yeah a remote mountain campsite in French alps recommends bringing a 50m to access the hook up power.

If you can’t get what you need buy some right spec cable and stick a 3 pin on each end.

If the hook up connection is only used to recharge the batteries, and to use the 12 volt sockets, there will be no problem with a 50 m 1.5 mm2 cable.
If the goal is to use the 220 volts from the socket on the kitchen unit, and to connect large consumers to it, then yes!

Despite your preference, by far the simplest solution is two 25m cables connected by a waterproof joint. It seems a bit excessive to go to the lengths suggested (no pun intended) just for a one off. I carry two 25m cables with a waterproof joint cover and although I have only used it twice in 25 years I have done so with no problems at all, especially handling.

I saw this happen a few years back on site.
The coiled up cable started a fire.

I would ask what supply your getting also. Some places in Europe only supply 6A. 50m is a long run, might be more trouble than it’s worth. Depends if you really need the juice or can go without…?

I have a 10m and a 25m hook up but very rarely take both. In suspect that the voltage would drop if you make the cables longer, not only that the weight and storage space would also be negatives. I do have a waterproof connector to connect the cables i have but have found that most sites you dont need more than 25m and have ever had to use that combo yet.

In Denmark they demanding 2,5 sq. for hook-up cord and max. length of 25 meter and the with the blue Eu plug
