The ABS, ESP and tyre pressure lights came on last night so I assumed another faulty ABS sensor. Carista confirmed it was the rear left so we as we were passing out local garage I booked it in for a new one. Previously we have been able to just carry on driving but suddenly the brake pedal started to pulse and brakes locked on and off. The AA came out and the guy agreed an ABS fault. He put the van on full lock, arm round the back of a front wheel and unplugged the ABS sensor.
It seems that unplugging one of the ABS sensors just disables the whole ABS system and you can then drive the van again. Bad news is that it is likely that the ABS unit has packed up as well as the sensor.
So if your ABS is playing up at least you can get it to the garage with a quick fix.
