Uli is delightful and very helpful if you need to speak with him it's the Mutze or cap comes in various colours, we have the silver version has worked in cold weather and hot weather. He's moving his shop at the moment, but normally stuff arrives within about 48hours with some Haribos as a treat inside

Eh? I am teetering on the brink of buying a new Cali and was blithely informed by the dealer that you can run the Climatronic if you are hooked up? I take it from this that you cannot?
What's the story anyone?

Don't understand how as the compressor is driver off the engine.
There is however a 'rest' button on the dash which will continue to pump out air from the climatronic for half an hour, this will obviously eventually reach ambient temperature.

That sounds like utter cobblers to me. I think the dealer doesn't know what he's talking about.
After turning off the engine you can get 30 mins of heat by pressing the "rest" button but don't know if you can use this function for AC though - wouldn't have thought so

Freely rest button will pump out hot if climatronic has been used on hot before parking or cold if that is what was last used.

Ah ok didn't realise that. Probably doesn't help the OP though.

From camping days I have a Coleman cool window fan http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000YEMOI8/?tag=eliteelect-21 which has a metal slim stand held in place by magnets. This allows it to be attzched to tent mesh panels, or Cali mesh roof panels and keeps a bit of air flowing. I have other tent fans but this is the best one I've used and the batteries (D Cells) last a long time. On hook up I have a small desk fan plugged in which is even better at keeping air moving.

The air safe tailgate hook helped but Croatia was so hot I bought a cheap mains powered fan to use when connected on a camp site. Made all the difference. I was cold camping under the Eiger at Grindelwald in Switzerland on the way down. If I had taken my small fan heater I could have used it for both places with heating function turned off for cooling air only in Croatia. The heater doesn't blow as well as the fan though.
