"All-in" warranty

I didn’t think I’d ever do this, but I’ve just bought a 2 year non manufacturer warranty. When we bought Elmo3 a year ago, the dealer gave us a 12 month warranty. I thought thanks, but that’ll be a waste of time. Well, I needed a new steering rack, which they covered, no issue. When they offered a 1 or 2 year extension I thought yes, good idea on balance. Not bad on a 12 year old with 100K + miles. Transferable on a private sale as well.

VW is not the only option, I wouldn’t take an older Cali anywhere near a main dealer.
Who is the warranty actually with? Is it actually underwritten by the dealer or a warranty company.?

Directly with the warranty company, MB&G. My claim experience with them has been first class, hence happy to extend.

Returned to VW Liverpool today for the VW All-In Eligibility Check & Brake Fluid Change. All went perfectly & now Signed up.

Coming to the end of my 5 year warranty, 2 year assist extension and 2 year service plan this year, so I'll probably go with this.
The last of my 2 services is booked in for October with additional Haldex, DSG and Cambelt/pump etc. So I'll move to this for the next 2 years.
Had our ocean in for 2nd service today enquired about this only to be told cannot be taken out due to cam belt has not been changed ,we have 2017 ocean with 13500 miles on it .I said to the dealer in the EU its 200000 kms or ten years

Did the dealer say that you can take out the warranty if you get the belt changed?

Ours 2018 Cali was serviced (Service Plan Minor Service) last November at 6,500 miles. We had a similar dealer response in July when MOT carried out. - Not eligible for the All in Warranty, ours had then covered 7,500 miles and had an outstanding major service remaining on the service plan, I had already extended my AA Cover for Two years. When I enquired, I was told to 'Use up' the Major Service to be eligible for the All in Warranty! Just had a reminder that an 'Inspection Service' is due. We have now covered 10,500 miles! Money pit.

the web site says only10% so that is a bargain

Checked with my dealer again and they said it's 25% off for cars and only 10% off for vans but good to haggle ;)

This was the info I got on the All In plan and the answers to my clarification questions.

All in all I decided it was a good deal for me with a 3 year old van, that will be Dealer serviced.
I now have this plan running on my van & had no problem with the dealer fitted 30mm lowering kit & uprated rear roll bar passing the inspection.

The All-in Warranty team have reviewed the components mentioned in your email and can confirm cover as per the text in red below.

1. Elevating roof and associated pumps/actuators etc. pump, switches and sensors only

2. Auxiliary diesel heater covered

3.Fresh water & waste water system including pumps/valves etc. covered if factory fitted

4. Fridge not covered

5. Auxiliary control panel for, roof, fridge, heater etc covered if factory fitted

6. Gas hob & associated valves/hoses etc. not covered

7. Rear seat bed arrangement mechanism not covered

8. Roof bed not covered

All In Plan. Its for vehicles aged 36 -72 months that have done less than 100,000 miles at the start of the plan, 2.0l engine or less and has good service history and followed VW recommendations. In essence you get 2 services ( 1 interval £175+VAT, 1 Major £330 + VAT) 2 MOTs and 2 years Roadside Assistance (UK and Europe) but when you take the plan VW give you a 2 year warranty ( similar to Approved Used Warranty Policy ) free of charge.

As well as a small saving of £36, if you brought the items individually, you are also saving the cost of the warranty which is £1679 making the total saving an amazing £1715.00

The upfront cost of the plan is £839.30 or you can spread the cost, interest free, over 24 months at £34.97pcm.

In order to qualify for this package your vehicle needs to complete an eligibility check ( vehicle must be officially over 3 years old) which is free of charge and takes approx. 25 mins. The stipulation is that the plan must be taken up within 7 days of the check and any cost of repairs that are required in order to pass the check are completed and paid for before the policy can commence and the vehicle must have no pre-existing service plan, VW roadside assistance or extended warranty policies in place. Wear and tear items are not included in the warranty i.e brakes, tyres etc and neither is diagnostic time for non warranty repairs. If you sell your vehicle the plan is transferable to the new owner by writing to VW.

Yes that was the only option to buy the warranty
Up date on this the cam belt was changed by a local garage I then informed vw sheffield the work was done only to be told that they need proof of brake fluid change which I have done myself this is not done by a garage so not accepted had to pay a garage to do it,next booked in again for health check a vw Sheffield and it failed again because of error codes in the ecu but no warning lights on dash and running well ,they asked for the van to be booked in for a diagnostic check I told that it you have just done that because you have an error codes but no they want another sepperate booking and charge for this.so by now very frustrated by the whole process at vw trying to squeeze every last £ out of me.the van has only 13600 miles on the clock and by the way orignal the cam belt still had the marking printed on it and the water pump looked liked it had come out of a box not used ,supa fed up with it all now

Ah, so this is just a money making exercise then, the difference between the cam belt life expectancy on the Continent and the UK is outrageous, over 200,000 KM and no time limit or 40,000 miles/5 years which ever comes first. The brake fluid condition can be checked using a moisture test instrument but again where is the profit in that?
I will be using a local specialist garage for the ongoing maintenance and retain the VW recovery plan, the £160 for two years fee that includes Continental cover still hits the spot.

thats a really good alternative

Been trying to set up an 'all in" plan (2 year Service Plan, MOT, Breakdown & warranty) for our Cali as approaching the 6 year cut off. Taken a bit of time to set up, but the dealer has been great helping us. Managed to sort today, with the added bonus that they advised that VW had communicated to them that there's 25% off the 2 year plan as from yesterday. So only costing £630 for the 2 year plan, which is a no brainer.

At that its a bargain.
I have taken the gamble with our GC that the scheme will be available once our 3 year warranty expires. That cost is only £130 more than just extending the warrenty by 2 years when the van is new.

I’ve opted for the all in warranty as is a good deal. However the level of warranty cover doesn’t match the original 3 year warranty, what I don’t know is if you take the extended 5 year warranty at the time of purchase, is it equal cover to the 3 year warranty?

Yes, it’s the Full Factory Warranty for the 5 yrs, BUT does not include the VW Assistance for years 4 & 5. You have to sign up for that at the end of the original 3 yrs cover.

I’ve more or less given up trying to take out the all in plan. No real help from dealer at all. Had to phone customer services as the service plan that should have ended last week was still showing for some reason even though the second and final service had been done. Customer services said they had cancelled it but computer still says no when i call dealer to try and setup. Dealer has said, on three occasions they would call me back but never do.

OUr van 3 year warranty ends 1/4/22, can I start setting up the all in plan now??

Thanks

It seems as though if there are current plans still valid on your vehicle (warranty or service plans) then they have to expire prior to taking up the new 'all in' plan (plus passing the vehicle inspection).

We had to have our last service on our last plan completed and then it took about a week of chasing by the dealer to VW to get the old plan completed on the system, so that they could then create the new one.

So it will depend on your dealer as to how much they chase for you.

I scheduled with my dealer to have the inspection done before the MOT and the 3 year warranty expires, I believe the dealer then has 7 days from the inspection date to implement the new All in plan. It does rely on a proactive dealer wrestling it over the line.
