Alternative charging

Hello I’m close to buying a 1996 exclusive and was thinking has any one run a let’s say Victron Orion xs 12 12 50 to a good lithium battery then connected that to an inverter then used that if needed to trick the bus it’s on hookup ie to charge the original system or just run the original system if you’re out of power from the old gel battery I’m thinking you could tap into the hookup point inside the bus and plug in at your leisure probably tripling your off grid power if needed any thoughts I’m power mad hopefully makes sense

Not many exclusives about, you may have found yourself a classic!

Why not just replace the gel battery with Lithium? If you are going to run a Victron DC-DC charger and an inverter you can replace the original charger with one of the Victron combined charger/inverters. I’d imagine that would be the simplest solution? The standard leisure battery is pretty big so I suspect you could find a LifePO4 200Ah+ battery that would fit in the same space? That would over double your useable capacity over stock.

Cheers but I’m thinking if I trick the bus it’s on hookup the sockets become live more useable I’m definitely no expert but considering my options
