And would appreciate advice on insurance

And no doubt lots more questions to follow

Welcome, I'm surprised that someone has not already mentioned about the search function ;). There is a specific sub-forum dedicated to insurance which has lots of relevant information. There is a manual to download but it's from 04/2015 and downloads only available when you pay for the VIP member.

As has already been mentioned above. Lots of Forums/Threads relating to Insurance, T6 changes etc: Also lots of information in the VIP Downloads section + VIP Discount codes etc:.

Although the T6 is an updated base vehicle the Habitation/Camping section is basically unchanged.

So sorry Teejay1 - am new to forums and need to learn how they work. I'm sure the club will be really helpful particularly at our early stage.

I think I was meant to be introducing ourselves.
We are Robin and Rosemary Gambles. We live in Reading. I'm due to retire fully in April next year and the acquisition of our California will be one of our means of exploring our new freedom both here and in Europe.
We'll probably get delivery of our by then ex demonstrator in January or February. It is fairly high specification automatic Ocean 204 PS with Discovery Media Sat Nav Plus with Premium Bluetooth and potential wi-fi connectivity. I'm not very tech savvy so will have a learning curve there too, but we like to keep selectively in touch when out and about.
All very exciting but as mentioned before we've absolutely everything to learn.
Is the fee for VIP membership a one off or an annual fee?

Please bear with us as we learn the ropes.

Robin

Hi Robin (and Rosemary :D:D)

A big big welcome. Ask all the questions you want, we are a friendly bunch (mostly :D) and you will get lots of answers.

The search function is good but if stuck just yell.

Enjoy the place, we look forward to hearing about all your adventures!

I do apologise if that came across as shouty or accusative. Normally when someone new turns up the are told in minutes about the search function. ;) Lots of experienced people on here I'm still early in the learning curve myself. Welcome aboard, you'll have a fab voyage.

Welcome Robin and Rosemary. Cali's are a lot to get your head round but it comes together in the end and if not the answer is somewhere on here or someone will tell you.

Probably a good reminder that as well as the site search you can use Google etc. Put in

site:vwcaliforniaclub.com

Leave a space after .com and put in your search term. You will then get back results specific to the site.

I just made a short cut click on that and add the term, works a treat.

Hi Robin and welcome.

The VIP section is just £10 a year and you can opt out at renewal date.
As well as being full of great documents and info, it also allows you some superb discounts from the some decent product suppliers and VW garages and parts suppliers. I think I saved more than £100 in my first year by becoming a VIP member.

Regards

Gavin

Welcome Robin and Rosemary.
I am just down the road near Basingstoke.
Which dealership are you getting your Cali from? Would be interested to hear your experiences with whichever one you are using.
Not too long to wait until you get your van! Sounds like a great spec.
