Lent my T6 clai to a family friend last week as they are looking at buying one on the understanding they would top up the ad Blu level as was getting a little low.

Fast forward to them returning it and the Ad Blu hasn’t been topped up so questioned them about it.

Turns out they put 5ltrs in the water tank ( doh! ).

I’ve flushed it out a couple of times but any other advise is welcomed

Bloody hell. It’s Urea. I’m not a doctor so I don’t know what harm trace amounts would do to you. Keep flushing out the tank many more times then sterilise it with Milton Tablets.
Print off the Health and Safety data sheets and ask a doctor’s advice to be on the safe side.21CE7B81-064B-4C8B-ACC3-509F15370C60.png

One reason we will never lend ours out, family or otherwise.

I'm not sure of the porosity of the tank for things as chemical and dangerous as that. Personally, I'd be looking to replace the tank and pipes.

Edit - I know now more about the properties of AdBlue than I ever wanted to :D

Yes I asked my daughter who is a GP and she says if the tank is well flushed and sterilised you won’t be drinking urea and there won’t be a problem.
Don’t drink antifreeze though. Then you will die.

Thanks all. Flushed it 10times now and waiting on some puriclean arriving tomorrow

Next time you lend out the van, keep the key for the water tank cover with you. Only give the key fob to start the van. And show them where to refill if needed. This will keep problems to a minimum.

Adblue is a non- toxic solution of pure Urea in De-ionised water. It will do no harm to you or the water tank system even neat.
Flushing the tank out 10 times will be more than sufficient but by all means use the Puriclean for peace of mind.

" Because the urea solution is added to the fuel system, many people believe it to be toxic. This is not the case, however. AdBlue is made up of a non-hazardous mix of 67.5% deionised water and 32.5% urea. "

I lent my Cali to my daughter and her husband, so that they could do the NC500, after they got caught up in the STA Travel debacle and lost their Motorhome booking. However, I topped up the Ad Blue before I handed it over and did an hour long handover so that they knew how everything worked. I also made it very clear that “if you break it or damage it, you pay for it”.
