Auto Gearbox Slipping

Our 05 Cali has done just shy of 85k miles and coming off the motorway yesterday it was over-revving and not changing gear. I bet one of the bands on the epicyclic gearbox is gone. It's the tiptronic gearbox; anybody had this experience?

I guess this will be expensive , bit annoyed the gearbox hasn't gone for longer - I don't suppose there's any hope it could be something simple? Still works in reverse!

hi, did you sort your gearbox out, i have been having trouble with mine,seems to stick in gear although its automatic its a intermittent fault happening every now and then.it looses a little power ,what i found turning of the ignition and re starting and the problem disappears and for no apparent reason returns, no warning lights etc it keeps moving, do,s this sound the same as your problem my vw cali is a 2006 model automatic tiptronic gearbox. regards stewie
