Auto Train with a Cali?

Having successfully used the SNCF Auto Train with our car last year to the South of France I have been trying to see if any of the European railways will take a T5 Cali on board.

SNCF Auto Train do not. The van is too big for them. A long and fruitless search on the internet gives me a glimmer of hope that there is an operator that does take vehicles such as ours, but I have come up against a brick wall so now want to ask the forum to see if anyone has any experience of this.

We are not afraid of long distance driving, we have just returned from driving the Cali to Switzerland for a weeks skiing, but we are thinking we might like to take a trip to Italy this summer and as we only have two weeks to do it in the idea that we can pop the Cali onto the train closer to home and let the train take the initial strain of the miles while we travel down on the TGV appeals somewhat.

Years ago I had a couple of friends who travelled across the USA for free by driving someone else car for them. I somehow can't see us trusting our Cali to a youngster to do the drive for us in the circumstances but it wouldn't be a bad "free" trip for them. Our friends decided to go off road for fun in the other persons car at the salt flats and decided to set a speed record of their own. They then got the car stuck up to the axles and eventually got towed out by a passing army truck! Great fun - but not at our expense.

Glad for any suggestions.

I looked into this earlier in the year and I couldn't find anyone that would take the Cali. But I would like to proved wrong!

I looked into this as well and contacted a couple of UK companies that specialise in bookings, but they all confirmed the Cali is too tall for the train

You should be able to in Finland using car train service www.vr.fi
Interesting trip: take the ferry from Travemunde to Helsinki, then the train to lapland (e.g. Rovaniemi) and return via Norway or Sweden or a mix of both. Been in the north many times, but in a Cali will be for '16 or '17.
