Is it safe to use the auxillary heater when a vango kela awning is attached?
Thinking fumes from the exhaust.
Look forward to receiving replies.

I wouldn't if there was a person sleeping in there.

Just did a quick Google and it looks like the Kela has cowl doors on both sides. We are happy to use our aux heater with a drive away attached - we leave both cowl doors open to create significant airflow. The main awning compartment is still zipped up.

With this set up we just use the Brandrup window air vent on the passenger side so the windows on the driver side stay closed. We always have the roof up.

Thanks Lewis - will try tonight if we have another clear sky near Landsend.

You could try a skirt that goes from front to rear wheel arch along the bottom of the body work and test using a CO monitor in the awning. The Diesel Heater only puts out very small, non-toxic amounts of CO but could be smelly. If not being used for sleeping for people or dogs then not really a problem.

Thanks Welshgas I like the scientific approach.
We have a carbon monoxide alarm with us, that should do the trick.
We can pop it inside the awning before firing the aux' up and open the passenger window slightly. Nobody is sleeping in the awning.
