Awning/canopy repairs

Hello again….
I’ve a 65 plate California and to add to my woes my awning started to peel apart the other week
There’s a seam about 10” from the reel (smart idea!!) which has started to un-seam itself
Im looking for some advice on how to repair it

Do I take the whole assembly off the side of the vehicle? If so …. How?

Is it easiest to take it all off the vehicle, unwind and repair on the floor?
(I’ve some adhesive from Stormsure and thinking it’ll be easier to lay it out and clamp the two pieces together with the Stormsure adhesive)

I’ve read this is not a new issue and would like to fix this myself if possible

When our main dealer flat out denied anyone else had an issue and quoted £1500 for a replacement I replaced ours material with a single piece of fabric

Have you needed to replace/repair your wind out awning fabric because of the 'weld'?

Our late 2016 Ocean wind out awning has just split along the fabric weld. Having just provisionally been told by the service team at our local VW that they only replace the entire awning unit rather than just the fabric, I would be very grateful to hear how many of you have/had a wind out...

That’s a sensible option - re fit with no seams
Where did you source the material?
