Hi we are having a problem - our awning got completely stuck in the open position and my husband broke the crank handle trying to close it. Embarrassingly we’ve had no choice but to call vw assist as we can’t go anywhere! Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice? We’re in burford cmcc site so there could be worse places to be stranded :)

I had a similar experience the first time I opened the awning during my recent trip to France. It seemed to lock in the fully extended position and required a bit of force to break the 'lock' and get it to retract. Hopefully with more use it will loosen up.

The lovely vw assist man has sorted it with big strong pliers thank goodness! Hopefully all we need is a new crank handle and I’ll cross my fingers it never happens again. All an adventure!!

Happened to me last month. Used the awning again at the weekend, crank handle broke with the brass connector at the end spinning in the housing. My mate was on the site with me, once we were done today and he;d wound his in. We then managed to retract mine. Lost some faith in it, proper PITA, way stiffer than it should be.

I think the trick is to not to fully extend the awning.

Thanks both, yes it does, to be fair they weren't locked straight but there wasn't much of an elbow.
