Best route to the south

To be honest I have not been driving on holiday, since I had my bike some +25 year ago. In short we are heading downwards from Denmark - attending Corsica, La Maddalena, Sardenia and Elba.

I am confident that there are a few in her, that have a opinion on the best way to cross the alps ;-)

We have not decided where to take the ferry. Savona? Or further down Italy. Maybe over Elba.

Any tips are very welcome …
