The rack had been on the van since new - so six and a half years in the English rain, that combined with no maintenance and a lack of much use I guess means that I shouldn't be too surprised that one of the arms had seized up. I have unseized it with good old WD40, but I wondered if there were recommendations for what to apply so as to avoid this problem in the future? I'm thinking WD40 won't be very long lasting - and I do need to start a regular maintenance routine!
