Couple of weekends ago our clutch master cylinder decided to give up the ghost. Cali is 2011 with 33k miles on it. As we were away at the time this was a little inconvenient. Although the van was just driveable I decided to contact a local garage, which came highly recommended, to sort it. So £200 lighter and all was well. This got me thinking about what would have happened if we had been on the motorway and towing our caravan, or anywhere else for that matter.
We have discovered that although we are covered to have our van recovered, we are not covered to have the caravan recovered, even if it is attached to the Cali. This would have been down to us to arrange. ( Our policy also states that horseboxes are also not covered. Just imagine horses all over the M6)
Moral of the story is if you have recovery on your insurance policy, check the terms very carefully and look for ambiguity which ours has in abundance. Checked with AA and RAC who both stated that if we have relay both units would be recovered to a single destination of our choice should they be unable to effect a roadside repair.
