Has anyone had this problem? I'm assuming I'll get a new one under warranty!

You should do if you are still within the 3yr warranty period and there is no obvious damage caused by it jamming against something.

Mine came apart further along when the duct tape loosened. I've held it together with new tape at the moment but it will need to go back under warranty.

I think they all do that.
I taped mine up with some real sticky tape.It´s now better than new.

Took it to Brian Curry Milton Keynes. No questions asked, just very pleasant comments about the wagon
They checked and VW have one, ordered and booked in for 2 weeks under warranty.
