So today though I would change the tyres on my Ocean 6.1 (with sports pack) for my winter wheels. This is the first time I have tried to change a wheel on her. The standard jack fouls the sports pack. Am I doing something wrong?

Photo of problem?

Should be a different jack with the sports pack.

Turns out was user error. I had the base of the Jack too close to the outside of the wheel. Moves it in and it was fine. Although did give me an issue with the last wheel and whole van would slide as I lacked her up. Very slight slope from from the rear - turned the van 180 and got the last wheel done. Very unimpressed with the Jack - hope I never have to change a wheel in anger.

There’s been more than a few comments on here regarding the jack. I’ve only used it once to lube the mating surfaces on the wheels and hubs. That was on pretty flat concrete and it didn’t fill me me with much confidence. Anyone recommend a good safe alternative?

Look for a high lift trolley jack. Probably best with a 2.5 tonne. Around £100 upwards. Costco usually have decent ones.

Check out SGS (Gas Strut People) for bottle jacks and axle stands, remember to chock wheels on opposite side to jack, levelling ramps (if you have them) can do this at a push

Agree. Halfords or other websites have small folding metal chocks. Very useful to have with you in the van. I have a set and always use when doing anything with the wheels

I’ve got a Bradbury 5 ton jack for home use, at 30kg it’s a bit lumpy to drive around with. Thinking of something more portable and more stable than the one that came with the van.
