Christmas in the Cali - a relaxed site with a view?

Seriously considering going away/escaping in the Cali with @zerofour and the kids over Christmas this year.

Can anyone recommend a site (UK or Northern Europe) which will be open over the festive period.

Just want to chill, read, go for long walks. I'd love a site with views - seriously considering Glencoe or the like but aware Scotland might not be the best bet (weather-wise i.e. getting there safely) and as we are very south, it'll be a long drive.

Would be helpful to be in walking distance of a pub where we could possibly book Christmas lunch.

Any thoughts?

Will be interesting to hear your replies as we are looking to do the same, however we plan to head to the continent as it can be a bit grim here in December.

Sadly I'm back at work by then (lucky to get Christmas off this year as usually I am working), otherwise would def have been up for a meet.

+1 for Ayr - we stayed there over Christmas a couple of years ago.
