Clacking noise behind dash when air fan running. Like a flap opening and closing.

Hello,

For around 1 month now there is a clacking noise coming from inside the dashboard when the air fan is running. The AirCon is not switched on,

It sounds like a flap is continually opening and closing.

If I turn the fan speed down to zero (off) then the clacking noise stops. It does not seem to matter which air flow direction switch is switched on.

It does not do it all the time but does tend to happen when I have just started /restarted the engine.

It did first start when out on a particularly cold day.

Any thoughts?

Update.

Tried the reset described above. Seems to work but issue returned 30 minutes later.

Used vcds and did adaptation reset of the system, this was certainly more extensive with flaps opening and closing and blower running at various speeds etc., and seems to have fixed the issue. I will test tomorrow on longer drive.
