Has anyone successfully converted the control panel display illumination to LED on the ones that have the old fashioned bulbs?

I've noticed the bulbs on mine are shot and I've seen the links below to replace with incandescent bulbs. I just thought its better these days to put LED's in.

The wiki link shows how to replace the versions that already had LED's I think. Am I correct in thinking this was the only version to have button illumination?

Seems to read that way... in the t4-wiki link under the section 'Conversion to blue-red lighting ', it says (translated):
"Conversion is not quite correct, however, since the 96 control unit has no illuminated buttons and conversion is also impossible (the green lighting comes from the fact that two light bulbs shine through the green circuit board to which the display is soldered. This variant was also released ' 98 with blue circuit board / illuminated display (without backlit buttons). "
So maybe not possible to have the illuminated buttonsin later versions of the controller...?
