Convert to petrol?

The title probably confirms I know absolutely nothing about such things! But I'm just wondering if there's any chance of (or point in!) replacing a 2.5 175ps Diesel engine with an equally punchy petrol, so I can continue driving my 11-year-old Cali well into the future, without paying huge bills, being spat at, or feeling guilty?

This reminds me of the “can I convert 2wd into 4wd” thread.

Brilliant

It can be done, easily possible but it's whether you want the cost of it or not.

My old T25 was a 1.6d with no turbo, I upgraded this to a more modern AAZ diesel but it was expensive, engine was relatively cheap around £350 but the fitting and modification put the cost around 2k and that was with my Dad helping me out and cutting costs.

Probably cheaper to fit a adblu style device at around £1500 quid if its purely pollution you are worried about? Or if it has a cat get it renewed. Even so a petrol will kick out far more co2 than the diesel and will use more mpg.

Very possible, its a matter of whether its worth your money?

Or go electric !
I’ve seen a few T2 retro-fitted with electric motors and batteries
