Corroded hub caps replacement

After a while the centre chrome hubcaps on Cali alloys can corrode and look untidy. A common problem when replacing them is snapping of the tabs that hold them in place. Here's how to avoid the problem. Warm the new cap tabs in boiling water for a minute. This softens the tabs and they'll pop in without breaking!

How did you remove the old caps? I thought it couldn't be done without removing the wheel...
