Cost of camping and pitching with Comfortz Awning room cost etc compared to drive away

We have a Kampa Cross air drive away awning but sometimes more than we need. In our current camp site someone said that if you just have an awning canopy you reduce camping costs as it is within your own awning space and not drive away. If so then it might be worth our while to have one of these for short trips. Thanks T
