It seems a bit dark at the back.

I’d like to set up some better lighting to do the dogs, any ideas?

LED would be good. With the dog crate in, the built in light at the back is a bit awkward to get to, I was thinking of maybe Velcro’ing on a battery/rechargeable torch or led strip to the tailgate or cupboard maybe.

Just let them look at each other ;)
You could stick a LED strip right behind the overhead locker, linked to the spotlight beside the locker.

Maybe I could take a feed off the boot light, then it would come on as soon as I open the boot !

I fitted one of these a few years ago. The light bar swivels, so is good for loading the back and, as we sleep down stairs, can be used as a reading light when reflected off the rear blind.

The dog on the left needs new batteries. (The one on the right obviously is using Duracells.)

;)

Thank you. That looks awesome. Would be ideal, do you have a link or more details of where I could get one?

Hi Will,

It is called Turn-Strip Cabin Light and has a Reimo label on the back of the packaging.
Alu-Linienlleuchte 12v/2.5w 30LED's Stock No. 83554

I bought the light from Calicap.de (now https://shop.vwcamper.de/) back in May 2014. Have had a look on their site and can't see it listed any longer.

Just had a look at the Reimo site (https://www.reimo.com/en/) and there is an equivalent model there under the same stock number.

I did see the same light on a display board at a UK accessory stand at last years NEC show in February. I saw it from a distance though and didn't go on the stand so don't know which company it was.

fairly cheap and LED option which could simply be plugged int 12v socket as it has an on/off switch.

You'd need a Cigar socket plug and wire probably but these are available with built in fuse if required.
That would work and is a lot cheaper than the German one, except it doesn't look as if it swivels.

I wired mine into the existing light at the back beside the drop down storage bin. It is then powered off the same fuse as the rest of the leisure lighting and the cable is hidden.

For the time being got some cheap led worklights from B&Q and some Velcro from screwfix. The one on the tailgate is 300 lumens so quite bright, I can recharge them from the 12v socket in the boot and take them on and off to use while camping.

Much better
