hi i am currently looking at dash cams
which is the best for fitting behind the mirror on the cali ?
looking at the garmin 45 or 55
if anyone uses one where do they put their cables and how do they keep them tidy ( what do theuy use to keep them out of sight ( as much as possible )
would not be using this dash cam in another vehicle
any suggestion would be much appreicated

I have a dashcam next to the mirror on the passenger side. I bought a wiring kit and fed the cable around the sunscreen under the passenger side trim and through the dash and then used a piggyback fuse. Took less than an hour. There are several good threads on this elsewhere on the forum.

Very fast moving area so always worth a refresh.

Very happy with mine a BlackVue which I went for to get a front and rear camera.

This thread might give some pointers....

For the record, mine is a nextbase 512gw, which cost me about £150 a year ago. Only disappointment is that max card size it will read properly is 32gb and that does not store a great deal of video; was hoping to be able to get clips of journey when get home, but quickly overwritten at 1080 resolution

Hi Alan 128 GB. If you want to have a look at mine you know where I am

Edit:- There’s a downside to it having worked perfectly since I installed it. I had to learn how it all worked again. Just does it job. Just logged into it and given it a firmware upgrade.

I have the Garmin 35 dashcam, I mounted it just to the right and above the rear view mirror. As its small and very high up on the windscreen there are no obstructed forward views; but you can still see the screen of the camera for warnings, video capture etc - if you hide behind the mirror you won't be able to see the screen. With regard the cable, just tucked it into the head lining and down the A pillar, can't be seen. Been very pleased with the Gramin. Just make sure you get the sticky patch were your want it first time - it's sticks very well indeed!

If you do a firmware upgrade it will use 128 gb card. I use 128 in my 512gw.

Take laptop with you and download every evening, does not take long.

Difficult when I use it in work truck, can't be bothered with doing that after a 15 hour day. Simpler to use max size Sd card.

True, I use mine in work van just let it over record. But in the Cali my Mrs downloads interesting footage for her holiday vids.

thinkware f800 pro provides the best and neatest (discreet) front and rear dash cam, but not the cheapest.
