Depressing brake pedal when starting with DSG

Does anyone else sometimes experience an overly firm brake pedal when depressing prior to starting the engine with a DSG gearbox? Sometimes I barely have a few mm of travel, other times I have 10-20mm plus.

That's normal and occurs if all the vacuum assistance has drained away.

The brake assist servo holds a vacuum to assist your pressing the brake but this fades away if left standing or if you push the brake a few time without the engine running.

Thanks Loz. It does seem to happen if the van has been left standing for 2-3 days.
