Looking for a little pop-up tent for Monty, choc lab / pointer cross, who just feels a bit too squashed in the Cali - (not to mention that we've had enough of his farting).

Trying to find a tent for him which is properly waterproof and with ventilation, but which isn't too big. Can't seem to find anything between this: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/2-seconds-easy-i-pop-up-tent-1-man-green-id_8302226.html which is perfect, but twice as big as needed, and those that are advertised for dogs, but which don't seem properly waterproof...

Any ideas gratefully received. Many thanks!

I did ponder this for our two but I thought I wouldnt be able to stop them going wandering in the night?

Don't forget tents can get very hot too in summer, so make sure he has water inside.

If i had to put my beloved doggy in a tent beside the Cali i would forsee a big enough tent for me to fit in also ....doggy stays with us in the Cali....
Mine would howl all night .....she in a tent a we in the Cali beside....no way !

We use the awning panels from comfortz and leave the side door open so they can sleep on the bed downstairs or go outside and sleep on their beds.
I find the bully stays on the bed and the young rotties sleeps outside until its time for us all to get up..Then he comes in and sits under the roof groaning and grumping..

We've had a couple of issues with them both going for an exploration in the night, but always never to far and alway come back..

Hi. What did you opt for please? I'm having the same dilemma for our lab.

We have a Coleman beach shelter we use for Monty (!) our black Lab.....its that or the boot....!

Thank you for that. Did you still stake him to the ground? I'm not sure if ours would try and escape!

No, we didn't stake him to the ground. It wouldn't really be in his nature to try to escape - although I'm sure a determined dog could probably rip his way out...

Excellent name!

Horizontal rain a lot of the time on our recent trip, so don't think our Monty would have liked an open-sided tent!

We can zip him in....but the boot is always warm and dry ;)

I bought a tent and went camping with the dug....not much sleep was had. Every time a nocturnal loo visit was made by a neighbour, the asaid dug barked so madly, all other neighbours within a mile of the site woke up.
Solution: a VW van!
So a tent is a no go for us. Dug sleeps on the bed! We have a queque shelter used as our garden shed for bits and bobs....gives the dug more room in the van!
Dog would not like to be away from us...and I'd worry about her security.

Hi Helen, hop over to The Roof Box Company website and look at the igloo pop up's. These are brilliant as they fold down flat. Before our Cali (Apr 2015), we travelled with six dogs and 4 igloos in our Berlingo. We would haul them up to our hotel room and the dogs would sleep inside their igloos zipped up so no roaming at free will in the room.

Was it one of these that you have? http://www.roofbox.co.uk/dog-bag/dogs-pets-carriers-dog-bag.php I couldn't find an igloo

Hi Helen, yes these are the dog bags i was referring to - i call them igloos because of their shape. Sometimes one can find them on Ebay. Before ZuluCampi, we used them all the time stuffing them into the Berlingo's top box. I do believe because the dogs were zipped in overnight and never trashed the hotel rooms, we were always welcomed back.

How about a simple foldaway crate for travelling? It then stores outside van when on the site. Safe travel and easy to store.
Our dog prefers safety of crate so it's used when we leave her in the van when going for morning ablutions....otherwise we return to an agitated dog getting up to all sorts!
I'm afraid our dog sleeps on our bed!

Before ZuluCampi, we used the collapseable "igloos" but now we have a Lintran cage on the back shelf and Kurgo travelling seats hanging from the back rests. A place for every dog and every dog in its place. And sometimes I can sneak the little one up top.

Herbie is a large Lab (8 months & 35kg). We had a 'large' foldaway crate that he's now grown out of. It was also heavy so I'm thinking a tent would be lightweight. There's four of in the van so we'll all get a better night sleep if he's in a tent.

(He also snores and is quite a farter :D)

Ha ha, as always, our beloved canines win hands down. As there is just the two of us, the Lintran box on the back shelf (Christ! I loose so much storage space, arghhhh) takes the two working cockers and Kerry Blue, the three hanging dog seats (two suspended from bench headrest and one suspended from back of driver's chair) take the three smaller terriers. Bonkers, but that's our family. We recently bought (might turn out to be a dumb idea - time will tell) a Kampa midi pod drive away. I think if we stay at a campsite for more than one night it will be worth putting it up, but for one night; ummm, no. And it takes up the remaining free space under the Lintran. As we use ZuluCampi to have a more leisurely drive down to Spain, she was never really intended to have extended camp site's overnights. Who knows as time ticks on. All I know is that incredible good feel factor when I drive her and she has forced me to pack really really well.

I can understand why you go to Spain....the thought of rain in UK with so many wet dogs to deal with is mind boggling. I have one only. She leaves a corner of the bed for us!

Dotted, you are 100% correct! I definitely would NOT entertain wet weather ZuluCampi and 6 wet dogs. So much so, on the way home from Spain in mid-September after Carcassone we started to chase the sun north. Our last campsite in Amboise on the Loire river (highly recommend Camping Château des Tilleuls) and hit rain. It wasn't much but we all know our beloved Calis have space limitations, so once home I won on Ebay a Kampa Midi Pod. We played around with it and have decided it will only come out if we are staying for two nights, BUT if it's raining out it will come. X
