After being away for 6 months, I just had a completely dead engine battery replaced by the AA & the door mirrors stopped folding in using the key fob on long press. Suspect windows weren't opening/closing same as usual either. I emailed Advanced in-car etc (Poole), & they replied with the solution which I thought I would post on this forum in case anyone else gets the same problem. Simply put both windows down and then up, when both up, let go of the button and lift and hold for two seconds in the UP position. All good now.:)

It’s amazing the weird things that work. Like putting on your Ruby slippers and clicking your heels together three times.

Hi Goldi,
Thanks for your post. I have the same problem after starter battery replacement by Halfords and their response is "take it into a VW garage!". For clarification; do you do both windows down and up at the same time? And after you let go of the button/buttons, do you lift one or both of them for two seconds. Sorry, but my brain needs clarification here as I can envisage more than one option. Thanks.
Clive.

I can't remember exactly but I think it was both buttons. Try it & see.

Tried both window levers at once: windows all the way down, then all the way up, and released lifted both levers and held up for two or three seconds. Didn't work first time but tried again and Hey Presto!, windows folded.
Thanks Goldi!

For windows read mirrors! Thankyou WelshGas. I also have the side assist switching off when removing key and have to switch back on in the menu every time I start up. (Only since starter battery change by Halfords.) Any ideas? All help gratefully received.

Also when i do switch the side assist on the lights in the door mirrors flash but I'm not sure it is working.
Clive.
