Double sided tape to hold rubber backed carpet to knobbly plastic floor

I have new carpets for the living area that are rubber backed that need holding down on to the knobbly plastic flooring on a Coast - the carpet is rucking up slightly, and the long thin strip by the door is especially vulnerable.

any recommendations for a double sided tape that won't leave a mess behind if you remove the tape please?

Have you tried taking out the plastic caps on the end of the floor rails & then put them back after the carpet is fitted, they can then hold the carpet down.
For the strip nearest the door, Brandrup use a strip of plastic that slips under the step trim. Something like that would give you a smooth surface to fiX double sided tape to.

I used double sided carpet tape to stick my carpet down. The carpet wasn't rubber backed though and I suspect that if you use any adhesive/tape you will damage the rubber backing if you ever want to remove it.

I don't think the plastic caps idea works as the carpets has quite thick piping/edging.

brandrup strip might work .. any pics?

The rubber is pretty hard stuff, almost plastic. Not worried about damaging the backing. More concerned about not damaging the floor.

It’s not double sided tape you need because if you use this you won’t be able to get the carpet up to clean underneath it.
What you need is Velcro, one part sticking to the carpet rubber and the other sticking to the floor.
We have used this for 7 years and works great.
You can buy it off EBay for a few quid. Only get a quality product as the cheap ones won’t stay stuck down.

This tape is good. Any residue easily removed with a bit of rubbing alcohol. BTW haven’t stuck mine down. Sliding drawer doesn’t clear. Have a two part set from Campervan Carpets.

Indeed, for me I'd want to be able to take it out for cleaning...

hand held vacuum cleaner will do the trick. Removing is a palaver.

I just used carpet tape, probably from Screwfix. Like this one

I taped the bit near the door with the tape that was supplied with in. I found that the carpet settled down after a while. try putting a heavy weight on it and see it it settles.
