Brandrup carpet sticking to the floor

I though I would clean my Brandrup carpets.

When I removed the rear one, I had to peal it off the wood effect floor and aluminium rail in places. It pulled a thin layer of backing off the carpet. The black on the floor was easily removed by hand. It's the same with the main carpet.

Is this normal or should I be treating the backing with something to stop it sticking. The only thing I can think of is Autoglym vinyl and rubber care.

Anybody have this or a solution?

That just leaves looks like a very poor quality backing to the carpet and not fit for its intended purpose. I’d be inclined to contact Brandrup.

I’d also be hesitant using the AG Rubber and Vinyl Care spray. It makes things very slippery. It’s good for the seals and others uses, but not mats.

Looks like it could do with baby powder to reduce the stickiness.

Unless something has been spilled on to the carpet, or it’s really old, I just think it isn’t correct. Brandrup will know the surface it’s being used for, and it shouldn’t stick.

As @Hawthorn37 says, I'd be contacting Brandrup. At the price they are, that shouldn't be happening.

Going to be checking mine at the weekend, to see if similar issue.

I have the same problem and going to report to Brandrup.

Aside but not related to OP issue. We have the same floor and when we first got the van had mats inside to protect. In the end we just binned them all and now just have a small washable doormat at the entrance. We find we paid extra for the fancy floor, might as well enjoy it.

Like you, we have a small mat only at the entrance (moved over when required to slide the porta Porto on to it, to avoid floor scratches).

The fascination with carpets escapes me, in such a tight multipurpose space: they are a magnet for all forms of dirt and worse. To cover over nice looking washable/wipeable hard floor seems completely mad to be.

Its suprisingly durable and very easy to keep clean. Bare floor all the way although I do have a rubber non slip mat in the boot to raise the height to the level of the plastic trim and stop items like the Brommie shifting in transit.

Yes, boot liner/mat for us too. We have this (thanks to a tip off from another forum member) which fits an Ocean well:

I couldn’t agree more in principle, however in the shoulder seasons that floor gets darned cold in the evenings, even when wearing thick or multiple pairs of ‘tent’ socks (shoes by day, socks after tea).
So imo there is an argument for a nice removable washable low pile carpet when it’s chilly.
Getting back to the OP, I’ve never had a problem with anything sticking to the floor.

Couldn't agree more - such a nice floor to cover off and if I had found a van with the same, there wouldn't be carpet covering it.
A rug at most in the colder climes!!
